Kwikee Level Best 3000
Complete Parts Breakdown

Every subsystem, every OEM part number, and what each component does — from the jack leg cylinders and solenoid valves to the control panels and wire harnesses. Written by the hydraulic technicians who repair these systems every week.

Jack CylindersPump AssemblySolenoid ValvesControl PanelsWire Harnesses

The Kwikee Level Best 3000 is a fully hydraulic leveling system — not electric-over-hydraulic like most modern units. That distinction matters when something fails, because every component in this system is a hydraulic part. This breakdown covers the entire system from the jack cylinders to the control panel, with OEM part numbers and repair context for each subsystem.

System Overview

The Kwikee Level Best 3000 hydraulic leveling system consists of four main subsystems that work together to extend, retract, and hold the leveling jacks at each corner of the motorhome. Understanding how each subsystem interacts is essential for accurate diagnosis when something fails.

SubsystemFunctionKey Parts
Jack Leg AssembliesExtend and retract to lift and level the coach at each cornerCylinder assembly, O-ring, reed switch, foot pad bolt, base
Pump AssemblyGenerates hydraulic pressure and distributes fluid to each jack via solenoid valvesPump motor, reservoir, 4-way solenoid, 2-way solenoids, pump solenoid
Control PanelAccepts operator input and sends signals to the pump and solenoid valvesTouch pad, PC board, bezel, level sensor, power harness
Wire Harness SystemConnects the control panel to the pump and each individual jack solenoidSolenoid harness, control-to-pump harness, emergency retract harness, daisy chain harness

Jack Leg Assemblies

The Level Best 3000 uses two jack leg configurations depending on the load rating of the coach. The 17K version (part 359275) is the heavy-duty unit rated for 17,000 lb corner weight, while the 10K Atlas version (part 359278) is used on lighter coaches. Both share the same stroke length, port locations, and mounting bolt pattern — they differ in bore diameter and cylinder wall thickness.

Each jack leg assembly is a self-contained hydraulic cylinder with a chrome-plated steel rod, a cast iron or steel cylinder body, and a foot pad at the base. The piston inside the cylinder carries a seal pack that separates the extend and retract chambers. A reed switch mounted to the outside of the cylinder body detects when the piston reaches the fully retracted position.

1359294O-RingSeals the hydraulic port fittings on the cylinder body. Replace any time a fitting is removed
2359281Cylinder Assembly, 15-in Straight, 17KThe core hydraulic cylinder — bore, rod, seals, and end caps. Mercury Hydraulics repairs and rebuilds this component
3359285Reed Switch — Magnetic Piston SensorSignals 'fully retracted' to the control panel. A failed reed switch causes the panel to show the jack as still extended
4359295Foot Pad Bolt, 3/4-10 × 1-1/2, Grade 8High-strength bolt securing the foot pad to the jack base. Replace if corroded or damaged

Cylinder Repair vs. Full Assembly Replacement

In most cases, the cylinder assembly (359281 or 359282) is the only component that needs attention — the base, reed switch, and O-rings are typically still serviceable. Mercury Hydraulics repairs the cylinder assembly directly: we re-hone the bore, replace the seal pack, and restore the chrome rod. This costs significantly less than sourcing a complete new jack leg assembly, and the repaired cylinder will outlast a new OEM replacement in most cases.

Pump Assembly (Packard Sub-C Monarch)

The Level Best 3000 pump assembly is a self-contained hydraulic power unit that includes the electric motor, gear pump, fluid reservoir, and a manifold block carrying the solenoid valves for each jack circuit. The complete assembly is part 359280, but most failures involve individual components — particularly the solenoid valves and the pump motor solenoid — rather than the entire pump unit.

The pump uses a Packard connector system for all electrical connections, which is important when sourcing replacement solenoid coils — the coil must have the correct Packard connector type to mate with the existing wiring harness without modification.

1359280Hydraulic Pump Assembly, Packard Sub-C MonarchComplete pump unit. Order only when the pump motor or gear pump is failed — most issues are in the solenoid valves
2906964000Solenoid Valve, 4-WayThe main directional valve on the manifold that routes pressure to extend or retract. A failed 4-way valve causes all jacks to fail simultaneously
3359517Valve Coil with Packard ConnectorThe electromagnetic coil that actuates the 4-way valve. Test with a multimeter — should read 20–30 ohms. Replace coil before replacing the entire valve
4364249Solenoid Valve & Coil, Level Best (supersedes 359515)One per jack circuit — controls which jack receives pressure. A failed 2-way valve causes one jack to fail while others work normally. This is the most common pump assembly failure
5365988Pump Solenoid, 4-Post (supersedes 906900250)Energizes the pump motor when the control panel sends an 'extend' or 'retract' command. If the pump doesn't run at all, test this solenoid first
Diagnosing a Single-Jack Failure vs. Full System Failure

If one jack fails while the others work normally, the fault is almost always in the 2-way solenoid valve (364249) for that jack circuit, or in the wiring harness connector to that valve. If all jacks fail simultaneously, the fault is in the 4-way directional valve (906964000), the pump solenoid (365988), or the power supply to the pump. The control panel is rarely the cause of a complete system failure.

Control Panels

The Level Best 3000 control panel is the operator interface — it accepts input from the touch pad buttons, reads the level sensor, and sends signals to the pump and solenoid valves. There are two distinct panel families: OEM Winnebago panels (which use a specific connector configuration) and aftermarket replacement panels that fit a wider range of coaches.

The connector type (4-pin vs. 8-pin) and whether the panel includes auto-leveling capability are the two key variables when sourcing a replacement. The 8-pin panels support auto-leveling; the 4-pin "No Auto" versions require manual jack-by-jack operation. Always confirm your connector type before ordering a replacement panel.

Wire Harnesses

The Level Best 3000 wiring system consists of several distinct harnesses that connect the control panel to the pump assembly and to each individual jack solenoid. Harness failures are more common than most owners expect — corrosion at the Packard connectors, chafing against the chassis, and rodent damage are all frequent causes of intermittent or complete jack failures that have nothing to do with the hydraulic components.

OEM Part #DescriptionWhen to Replace
1809879Wire Harness for SolenoidsConnects the control panel to the solenoid valves on the pump manifold. Replace if any individual jack is intermittent and the solenoid valve tests good
1809889Wire Harness, Control to Pump, 16 ftThe main trunk harness from the control panel to the pump assembly. Replace if the pump is intermittent or unresponsive despite a good power supply
1809896Standard HarnessGeneral-purpose harness used in various configurations. Confirm your specific routing before ordering
1809908Emergency Retract HarnessUsed to manually retract all jacks when the control panel has failed. Every Level Best 3000 owner should have this harness on board
1809936Daisy Chain HarnessConnects multiple jack solenoids in series. Used in configurations where jacks share a common harness run
Keep the Emergency Retract Harness On Board

Part 1809908 (Emergency Retract Harness) allows you to retract all jacks manually by bypassing the control panel entirely. If your control panel fails while the jacks are extended — a scenario that strands many owners — this harness is the only way to retract the jacks without calling a service truck. It costs less than $50 and takes up almost no storage space. Every Level Best 3000 owner should carry one.
